Drywall is Finished

DRYWALL IS FINISHED

The men who put up the drywall started on Friday at 4pm and finished yesterday (Sunday).  They worked really quickly!  The inside is really looking nice and with the drywall up, it's easy to get a feel for the rooms now.  We got to see all the insulation going in before the walls went up, and it's really a fascinating process to watch our home being built.  Next is taping the corners and covering the nails.

The brick layers got rained out on Saturday, so are continuing to work today (Monday).  I drove by to see how it was looking and it seems to me that the brick work might be done by the end of the day.

Enough talk, now on to the pictures!

WE HAVE BRICK!

As of Thursday, July 12, half of the back and the garage side of the house are completed with brick work.  The rest of the back and other side will continue on Friday.  How exciting!  I could see the garage side when I approached the house from the top of the hill and couldn't believe how great it looks.

SIDING AND WALK-THROUGH

Today was a great day - the siding is up!  AND I met the supervisor Mike for the framing and electrical walk-through.  Mike was helpful in going through the blueprints with me and our realtor Kathy to showcase the details of the underlying elements of the house.  Everything looks really wonderful and we are excited for the next phase!

Mike said that our brick layer would arrive this afternoon to start laying the bricks and that part of the house should be done in a matter of days.  Also, the insulation to the inside walls of the house would begin, and then on to drywall.

We've set our date for the final walk-through for the first week in September and we are very surprised and anxious about finishing so quickly!  We are excited that the team is working quickly and also that we'll be having lots of new neighbors before the holidays.

WHAT WE'VE SEEN

Aaaand....here is what the exterior of the house looks like the first time we saw it!  And it was looking this way as of yesterday as well on the outside.  The workers have put in some hard hours this week in the HOT hundred degree sun putting up siding and hardy board on the exterior.  I'm glad they'll have cooler weather this week.  The site supervisor told us that he keeps a fan running inside the house as well as a dehumidifier to keep the wood from expanding.

The fifth photo shows the stairs going up from the basement to the main floor.  The next two pictures show the bathtub and shower pan in the master bathroom - how exciting!

The last picture is the delivery this past week of the bricks.  They'll be going up in the next week or two, as we understand it.

We are building our house in a northern suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio called Liberty Township.  Actually, the place is nearly between Cincinnati and Dayton.  There are developed areas and lots of country surrounding us.  We really love the area, and have a Kroger and Walgreens close by for emergencies!

FINISHED FRAMEWORK

Here are a few more photo of trying to catch up to real time.  In the first photo, you can see how far the house sets from the street and our neighbors.  The second photo is the "solarium" which is the room on the front right side of the house in the first photo.  The last photo is the entry stairs to the living quarters.

Apartment living is interesting, and as I'm cleaning today, I realize how much I will appreciate my Shark steam mop when the movers deliver our possessions to the new house when it's done!

These are photos that were sent to us from Teresa.  The first and second photos are basement walls.  There's a walk-out basement, and you can see where the sliding door will go on the bottom level in the back.

The other photos are framing of the front (2), the inside of the basement, and the side entry garage.  It's coming along!

Greetings!  We are the Dale Family, and we are very excited to be building our dream home.  Our Fischer Homes representative, Teresa, was very kind to send of photos of progress in the first month of building while we lived in Texas.  We have driven to Ohio in three days for our final arrival and want to share the progress with you as we see it ourselves.
