Almost to the Finish Line

It's finished!  All that's left is our final walk-through on Tuesday to discuss the homeowners' handbook and make a list of little things to be fixed up before final closing.  Our closing date is next week.  We are expecting a painter to add color and some kitchen work to be completed by outside contractors.  Our movers will be bringing our things in as well.  Oh, JOY!  Then our work begins.

Hello, happy little tree!

Hardwood Floors

We have approximately 3 1/2 weeks to closing date.  The flooring crew came in on Friday to start installation of the hardwood floors.  They are still there today finishing up the job.  The floors look so beautiful!  Here are a few photos that Stephen and I have taken over the course of the weekend.

Interior Progress

The interior of the house is transforming day by day!  The carpenter has been hard at work installing cabinets, moulding, trim, and so many other beautiful things.  We now have flooring in the bathrooms and laundry room, as well as our laundry room tray sink (wow!).  The stairway banisters are absolutely beautiful.  We have light fixtures and air conditioning now.  Here's a look so far.

Drywall is Finished

DRYWALL IS FINISHED

The men who put up the drywall started on Friday at 4pm and finished yesterday (Sunday).  They worked really quickly!  The inside is really looking nice and with the drywall up, it's easy to get a feel for the rooms now.  We got to see all the insulation going in before the walls went up, and it's really a fascinating process to watch our home being built.  Next is taping the corners and covering the nails.

The brick layers got rained out on Saturday, so are continuing to work today (Monday).  I drove by to see how it was looking and it seems to me that the brick work might be done by the end of the day.
